This Essex bungalow has been completely opened up with a modern rear extension designed to bring more natural light into the home and make the most of the owners’beautifully landscaped garden. The aim was to create a brighter, more sociable kitchen and living space with a much stronger indoor–outdoor connection.

To achieve this, the homeowners chose a five-metre, three-pane flush-stacking sliding door. Finished in Anthracite Grey (Matt) and fitted with solar control glass, the door delivers slim, contemporary sightlines while helping to control heat and glare. When opened, all three panels glide and stack neatly together, creating a wide, seamless link straight out to the patio and lawn.

Above the sliding door sits a Cortizo GW70 gable window, also in Anthracite Grey. This feature window floods the extension with additional daylight and adds a striking architectural element that frames the garden beautifully.

In the sitting area, an Origin OW-70 window, upgraded with solar control glass, continues the slim, modern aesthetic while keeping the space comfortable throughout the day.

The result is a bright, open extension that transforms the bungalow, offering year-round comfort, uninterrupted garden views and the easy indoor–outdoor flow the homeowners wanted.
